| kinetic energy | the energy an object has has because of its motion |
| potential energy | the energy possessed by a body virtue of its position relative to others. |
| mechanical energy | the energy of either an object in motion or the energy that is sorted in objects by there position. |
| electrical energy | the power an atoms charged particels have to cause an action or move an object. |
| electromagnet energy | radiant energy that travels in waves at the speed of light. |
| nuclear energy | the energy in the nucleus or core of an atom |
| chemical energy | energy stored in the bonds of atoms and molecules |
| thermal energy | the energy contained within a system that is responsible for its tempeture |
| energy transformation | the process of changing energy from one form to another |
| law of conservation of mass | descovery that mass is neither created or destroyed in chemical reaction |
| friction | the resistence that one surface or object encounters when moving over another |
| convection | the movement caused within a fluid by the tendency of hotter therefore less dense materials to rise. |
| radiation | energy that comes from a source and travels through space at the speed of light |
| conduction | the process at which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through a substance when there is a difference of temperature. |
