| Chromosomes | The structure in the cell’s nucleus that contains instructions for the cell and the entire organism. |
| Allele | One of two or more versions of a gene. |
| Dominant Allele | The allele that is expressed. The offspring will have the trait represented by the dominant allele. |
| Recessive Allele | The allele that is masked by a dominant allele. |
| Genotype | The set of genes carried by an organism. |
| Phenotype | The physical appearance of an organism. |
