Magnetic Fields

What does attract mean? To pull towards one another.
What word means to push objects away from each other? Repel
What is a magnetic field? The space around a magnet in which magnetic forces can act on objects.
What is a magnetic pole? One of the two opposite ends of a magnet.

Fill in the blank: ____________ poles attract. Opposite poles
Using the magnetic field lines, how can you tell if two magnets will repel or attract? If their field lines connect to their own magnet, it will repel. If it connects to the other magnet it will attract.
How do magnets move objects? They can attract or repel some objects using a MAGNETIC FORCE.
Where is potential energy stored in a system of magnets? In the magnetic field.
Is one magnet a system? No, you need two magnets for a system.
To pull objects toward one another. Attract (1.2)
To push objects away from each other. Repel (1.2)
One of the two opposite ends of a magnet. Magnetic Pole (1.3)
