| Distal | Farther away from center |
| Dorsal | Near the back |

| Inferior | Away from head, lower |
| Lateral | Away from the middle, to the side of |
| Medial | Near the middle or center |
| Posterior | Back side of something |
| Proximal | Closer to the center |
| Regional Terms | Describe different divided regions of the body |
| Superficial | On the surface |
| System | Group of organs that work to preform a task |
| Vental | Near the abdomen |
| Adipose Tissue | Body fat, connective tissue |
| Appendicular Skeleton | Extremedies including the pelvis |
| Axial Skeleton | Head and torso |
| Connective Tissue | Supports, protects and gives structure |
| Epithelial Tissue | Forms coverings on all parts of the body, including around organs |
| Femur | Bone in upper leg |
| Forensic Anthropology | Study of bones from people, usually those who are dead, to identify missing or murder cases |
| Humerus | Upper arm bone |
| Pelvis | Bone structure that connects back to hips |
| Skull | Protects the brain |
| Torso | From shoulders to pelvis, middle part of the body |
| Tissue | A group of cells with a purpose |
| Agarose | The gel used in electrophoresis, made from seaweed with small pores for DNA to go through |
| Biometrics | Body calculations and numbers related to human characteristics |
| Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) | The thing that "codes" for every trait in the body |
| Gel Electrophoresis | Used to separate strands of DNA by size, and to compare to other pieces of DNA |
| Restriction Enzyme | Cuts DNA at different points and patterns to separate them |
| Restriction Fragment Length | Length of a fragment cut by a restriction enzyme, counted by the top as it may have overhangs |
| Polymorphisms (RFLPS) | 2 or more variant forms of specific DNA sequences |
