Topic 3 L. 1 terms and definitions

TermDefinition
Atmosphere The relatively thin layer of gasses that forms Earth's outermost layer.
Geosphere The densest parts of Earth, including crust, mantle, and core.
Hydrosphere The portion of Earth that consist of water in any forms, including oceans, glaciers, rivers, lakes, groundwater, and water vapor.
Cryosphere The portion of all the hydrosphere that's frozen, including all ice and snow on land, plus sea and lake ice.
Biosphere The part's that contain living organisms.
Energy The ability to do work or cause change.
System A group of parts that work together as a whole.
Feedback A loop in which a signal or action triggers another signal or action.
