Ecosystems Vocab

TermDefinition
Ecosystem A biological community of interacting of organisms and their physical environment
Organism An individual animal, plant, or a single - celled life form
Population All the inhabitants of a particular town, area, or country.
Community an interacting group of various species in a common location.
Bioshere The regions of the surface, atmosphere, and hydrosphere and the earth or analogous parts of other planets occupied by living organisms.
Biotic - factors A living organism that shapes it environment.
Abiotic Nonliving, as in antibiotic factor, which is a nonliving physical and chemical attribute of a system, for example light, temperature, wind patterns.
Producer Plants that make their own food through. sunlight, air, and water.
Consumer animals that get their energy by eating plants or other animals.
Decomposer organism that breaks down dead organic material.
