Cells The smallest unit that is able to perform the basic functions of life.
Tissue A group of similar cells that are organized to do a specific job. 4 Major types of tissues: 1. Muscle tissue. 2. Connective tissue. 3. Epithelial tissue. 4 nervous tissue
Organ A structure in a plant or animal that is made up of different tissues working together to perform a particular function
Organ system A group of organs that together perform a function that helps the body meet its needs for energy and materials.
Muscle tissue Enables the movement of the body through muscle contraction. Types of muscle tissue: Striated or skeletal, cardiac, and smooth.
Connective tissue Functions to hold parts of the body together, providing support, protection, strength
Epithelial tissue Lines the body surfaces. It protects other tissues from dehydration and physical damage.
Nervous Tissue Carries information throughout the body.
Organism An individual living thing, made up of one or many cells, that is capable of growing and reproducing.
Skeletal System The framework of bones that supports the body, protects internal organs, and anchors all the body's movement.

3 types of muscle ,1. Skeletal Muscle Skeletal muscle- The muscles that are attached to your skeleton. Performs voluntary movement, which is movement you chose to make.
3 types of muscle, 2. Smooth Muscle Found inside some organs, such as the intestines and the stomach. It performs automatic movement. You have no control over the movement it makes.
3 types of muscle, 3. Cardiac Muscle Moves without conscious control. Your heart is made out of it.
Hormone A chemical that is made in one organ and travels through the blood to another organ.
Vein A blood vessel that carries blood back to the heart.
