DefinitionTerm
The division of organisms based on similar characteristics. Classification
Organisms that are made up of only one cell. Unicellular
Organisms that have many cells. Multicellular
A group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of reproducing. Species
Organism that doesn't make it's own food (consumers and decomposers). Heterotroph
Organism that makes it's own food (producers). Autotroph
An organism whose cell does not have a nucleus. Prokaryote
An organism whose cell contains a nucleus. Eukaryote
The science of identifying, classifying, and naming living things. Taxonomy
A tool made up of sets of steps that help identify an unknown organism. Dichotomous key
The name that an organism is called by all scientists, it is based n the organisms Genus and Species- also called binomial nomeclature. Scientific name
Domain The first division of classification, this level contains the most diverse organisms.
