TermDefinition
Nerve A cluster or group of specialized cells, called neurons, that function to send signals to and from the brain so that the organism can recognize and respond to stimuli
Neuron A specialized cell that can receive and send signals about things we sense in our surroundings
Spinal cord Part of the central nervous system that connects the brain with some nerves, like the peripheral nerves
Olfactory nerve A nerve that is specialized to send information from the nose to the brain about things that we smell
Optic nerve A nerve that is specialized to send information from the eyes to the brain about the things we see
Cranial nerve A nerve that is specialized to send information from the mouth to the brain about the things we tatse
Peripheral sensory nerve A nerve that is specialized to send information from the skin and other parts of the body to the spinal cord.
