SCI 7 Unit 2 2022

Force & Motion

QuestionAnswer
What is required to change the velocity of an object? Force
What does an object's change in velocity depend on? The direction & strength of the force
What can cause a greater change in velocity, a weaker force or a stronger force? A stronger force
If the same strength force is exerted on a heavy object and a light object, which will have a greater change in velocity? The light object
When two objects collide, how many forces are there? 2 forces, equal in strength & moving in opposite directions
When two objects collide, what is the strength of the forces involved? The forces in a collision are equal
When two objects collide, what direction are the forces going? The forces in a collision are going in opposite directions
If a lighter object and a heavier object collide, which object will have a greater change in velocity? The lighter object
If a lighter object and a heavier object collide, which object will have a lesser change in velocity? The heavier object
What is velocity? Speed in a particular direction
What is a force? A push or pull that can change the motion of an object
What is a collision? The moment when two objects hit each other
What is friction? A force between an object and the surface it is moving over
What are the 5 ways an objects motion can change? Start moving, stop moving, speed up, slow down, change directions.
What does exert mean? To apply a force
If a heavy object and a light object both have the same change of velocity, which object had a stronger force applied on it? The heavy object
What can cause a greater change in velocity? A stronger force

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
