| 5 ways invertebrates are alike: | 1. have NO backbone 2. usually have weak muscles 3. usually are small animals with soft bodies 4. if they have skeletons, the skeletons are on the OUTSIDE of their bodies for strength and protection 5. are cold-blooded |

| camouflage | animals who look like or change colors to match their surroundings for protection |
| setae | special projections which help protect an earthworm from hungry birds |
