| Stratosphere | clear, dry layer of the atmosphere above troposphere. |

| Greenhouse effect | Gasses absorbing and emiting infrared radiation. |
| Greenhouse gasses | Carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and other gasses that absorb and give of infrared radiation. |
| Air pollution | Smoke and other harmful materials that are added to the air. |
| Particulates | Tiny particles or droplets that are mixed in with the air. |
| Fossil Fuels | Fuels formed from the remains of prehistoric animals and plants. |
| Smog | The combination of smoke and fog. |
