The Sun is bigger than the Moon, but they appear to be the same size in the sky when you look at them from Earth. Why is that? The Moon is closer to the Earth than the Sun.
Why do we experience day and night? The Earth rotates on its axis.
Why is it necessary to add a day to the calendar every 4 years? The orbit of the Earth is not exactly 365 days. (365 1/4)
Since the Moon produces no light, why does it shine at night? The Moon reflects the light from the Sun.
The movement of the Earth around the Sun is called its _______ or orbit. revolution
The spinning of the Earth on its axis is called ________. rotation
How long does it take for Earth to complete on rotation on it axis? 24 hours
How long does it take for Earth to complete one revolution around the Sun? 1 year

What are sunspots? A relatively darker, cooler area on the Sun's surface that emits charged particles.
What are aurouras? Light display occurs mostly near the poles when gases in the Earth's atmosphere glow when hit by charged particles carried by solar winds.
Why should you also examine your study guide for charts and pictures? Because that will help me score an A on the test!! You must be able to identify a picture of a solar and lunar eclipse. You must also be able to read a graph about sunspots. :)
