Cells Unit
| Term | Definition |

| protist | An organism made up of a single cell or many cells with a nucleus, and that is not an animal, plant, or fungus. |
| Virus | A microbe that is not made of cells and cannot grow or reproduce outside of a living cell. |
| function | The specialized activities performed by system, organ, body part, or device |
| structure | The parts of an object or system, including what they're made of, their shapes and arrangements. |
| Organelles | Cell structures, often surrounded by a separate membrane with a nucleus, and that is not an animal, plant, or fungus |
| Cellular respiration | Cells breaking down substances from food |
| indicator | Chemicals that change their appearance in different types of solutions. |
| Energy | The ability to cause an object to change, mover, or do work |
| Matter | To describe physical substances, such as the sugars in food, as well as other substances, like water, carbon dioxide, and oxygen. |
| Cell | The smallest unit, enclosed by membrane, that makes up all living organisms. |
| Cell Theory | All living organisms are made up of cells. Cells are the basic unit of structure and function in living organisms. new cells are made from existing cells. |
| Germ Theory | The theory that microbes can cause infectious diseases. |
| Multicellular organism | An organism made up from many cells. |
| Unicellular Organism | An organism made up of one cell. |
| Microbe | Creature too small to be seen with the naked eye |
| Victor | victor is an organism (other than a person) that spreads disease- Causing germs usually without getting sick itself |
| carrier | A person who can spread disease. This term is usually applied to people while vector is used to describe other organisms (typically animals) |
| Evidence | Information/facts that support or refute a claim |
| Trade off | a desirable outcome given up to gain another desirable outcome |
| Infectious disease | Disease caused by different organisms |
| Pattern | Something that happens in a repeated and predictable way. |
