HYDROSPHERE, ATMOSPHERE, WEATHER
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| percolation | when water goes underground and moves under the surface |
| occluded front | two cold air masses pushing warm up. Perfect for tornados |
| infiltration | is when the water seeps into the soil/ground |
| air mass | large body of air with increased pressure and temperature. |
| runoff | water flowing along the surface |
| atmoshpere | the layers of gasses for Earth |
| greenhouse gasses | gasses that can get out of the atmosphere |
| ozone layer | takes away ultraviolet rays. |
| evaporation | surface liquid turning into molecules changing to gas |
| coriolis effect | the effect of Earth's rotation on the directions of the wind and currents. |
| weather | the condition of Earth's atmosphere |
| front | the boundary where unlike air masses meet |
| cold front | a cold air mass overtakes a warm air mass causing rain, gusty winds, cool weather. |
| ionoshpere | the lower part of the thermosphere |
| exosphere | the outermost layer of the thermosphere |
| mesosphere | the layer of Earth's atmosphere immediately above the stratosphere. |
