TermDefinition
Matter The stuff that make-up all living and nonliving objects.
Unicellular Organism An organism made up of one cell.
Multicellular Organism An organism made up of many cells.
Germ Theory of Disease The theory that microbes can cause infectious diseases.

Cell The smallest structural unit,enclosed by membrane, that makes up all living organisms.
Microbe A microscopic cellular organism or a virus.
Energy The ability to cause an object to change, move or work.
Cellular Respiration A series of chemical reactions in a cell that break down sugars and release energy.
Indicator A chemical that indicates the presence,absence, or concentration of a particular substance.
Bacteria A single-celled organism that does not have a nucleus or other membrane-bound organelles.
Protist An organism made up of a single cell or many cells with a nucleus, and that is not and animal, plant, or fungus.
Virus A microbe that is not made of cells and cannot grow or reproduce outside of a living cell.
Function The specialized activities performed by system, organ, body part, object, or device.
Structure The parts of an object or system, including what they are made of, their shapes, and there arrangement.
Organelle Cell structures, often surrounded by a separate membrane , that performs a specific function.
