What is Volume? The amount of space an object takes up
What is used to measure the volume of a liquid? A graduated cylinder
How would you describe a regular shaped object? An object with flat sides shaped like a square or rectangle
What tool is used to find the volume of a regular shaped object? A ruler to measure the length, width and height
What formula is used to find the volume of a regular shaped object? Volume = Length X Width X Height
How would you describe an irregular shaped object? An object that does not have flat sides so it cannot be measured with a ruler.
What tool is used to find the volume of an irregular shaped object? A graduated cylinder
What method is used to find the volume of an irregular shaped object. Water Displacement
How do we use the method of water displacement to find the volume of irregular shaped objects? 1. Put some water in the graduated cylinder and record the volume. 2. Add the object 3. Record the volume of the water and object together 4. SUBTRACT the 2 numbers.
What is the unit for volume? Milliliter (mL) or Cubic Centimeters
What is Density? The amount of matter in a given volume (space)
What is the formula for Density? Density = mass/volume (mass divided by volume)
What is the unit for Density? grams/milliliter (g/mL) or grams/cubic centimeter
