| Term | Definition |

| Model | A representation of an idea, an object, a process or system that is used to describe phenomena that cannot be experienced directly. |
| Evidence | Something that gives proof or a reason to believe. Examples can be tables, graphs, maps |
| Processes | A series of actions used to produce something or reach a goal |
| Data | Facts, figures, or other pieces of information that can be used to learn about something. Examples include statistical info, drawings, photographs, models and graphs. |
| Scale | A drawing or model that has been reduced or enlarged from its original size |
| Metric System | A system of weights and measures that is based on the number ten. |
| Inference | A conclusion derived from inferring or assuming something based on an observation |
| Observation | The act or an instance of perceiving the environment through one of the five senses (hear, see, touch, smell, taste) |
| Science | A system of studying, testing, and experimenting on things in nature. Science is a search for general laws about how the world works. |
