TermDefinition
paragraph A section, or part, of a story. These are numbered throughout the story.
most likely reason best answer
definition The meaning of a word
simile A comparison of tea things USING the words 'like' or 'as' Example: My pillow is as soft as a cloud.
sensory language Language, or words, that appeals to the reader's senses. (see, hear, taste, smell, touch) Example: The loud chirping of the birds woke him up. (This sentence uses the sense of hearing. 'loud chirping' is the clue.
Illustrate To make something more clear or visible
dashes a punctuation mark (--). It is used to show a break in speech or thought.
emphasize To give special attention or importance to
selection Whole passage/story
prefix a word part with its own meaning that is added to the beginning of a word to make a new word that has a different meaning. "Re-" in "restate" is a prefix.
central idea The main idea of the story- What is it mostly about?
evidence proof
conclude To bring to an end; finish or complete.
multiselect A question where there are multiple (usually two) correct answers to choose.
multipart A question that has a Part A and Part B
constructed response A question that you answer in complete sentences using the R.A.C.E strategy.
