Nature of Science

| control | a variable that is kept constant so that the impact of other factors in an experiment can be clearly understood |
| hypothesis | a possible explanation for a set of observations |
| observation | the act of using senses (sight, sound, touch, smell) to make sense of the world |
| science | the study of the natural world |
| theory | an explanation for a wide range of phenomenon that is supported by extensive evidence and observations |
| independent variable | the factor that is manipulated in an experiment |
| dependent variable | the factor that responds to some experimental condition |
