Cephalosporins

4 basic Cephalosporins

Ancef (cefazolin) IV or IM (Intravenous or Intramuscular), used often before or during surgeries t help prevent infection. Ancef tends to darken with light. Iv stable at room temperature for 24 hours or 10 days in the refrigerator
Keflex (cephalexin) 1st generation, capsule, tablet, powder. Approved for children ages 1 year or older, based off weight in children. Shake well. Don't have to refrigerate. DO NOT take a multi-vitamin within 3 hours.
Omnicef (cefdinir) 3rd generation, oral suspension Shake well . do not tale if allergic to cefdinir or Keflex. contains Sucrose. Do not take two doses at one time if a dose was skipped. Avoid antacids
Rocephin (ceftriaxone) 3rd generation, IV or IM (Intravenous or Intramuscular), a prophylaxes drug.
