Energy Vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| Energy | The ability to do work or cause changes. |
| Work | when a force is used to move an object over a distance or cause change |
| Force | A push or pull |
| Chemical Energy | energy that is stored in the particles of matter (H2O, plants, food, batteries, etc.) |
| Electrical Energy | The energy that comes from moving electrons (can be static or current.) |
| Heat | The transfer or flow of thermal energy from a warmer object to a cooler object. |
| Conserve | To save. In respect to energy, it means that energy is never created or destroyed, but always stays. |
| Kinetic Energy | Energy that is working or in motion. |
| Thermal Energy | The energy that all matter has because its particles (atoms, molecules) are in motion. |
| Potential energy | Energy that is stored and ready to be used. |
| Law of Conservation of Energy | Energy can not be created or destroyed, but it can be changed (transformed, converted) to a different for or transferred from one object to another |
| Transfer | To move something from one place or one object to another -the same type of energy can be passed along from one object to another. |
| Transform or covert | Other words that means the same thing as the word change |
| Mechanical Energy | Energy of motion or moving parts ( bicycle, wind turbine, ocean waves, wind, arms and legs.) |
| Radiant Energy | Energy that travels on invisible waves (sunlight(solar energy), heat from fire, X-rays, microwave) etc. |
