Hibernation the condition or period of an animal or plant spending the winter in a dormant state
Estivation prolonged torpor or dormancy of an animal during a hot or dry period
Vascular Plants a plant that is characterized by the presence of conducting tissue
Nonvascular Plants a simple, low-growing, nonflowering plant that lacks specialized conducting channels for transporting water and nutrients and in which the photosynthetic gametophyte is the dominant stage of the life cycle
Camouflage an animal's natural coloring or form that enable it to blend in with its surroundings
Mimicry the close external resemblance of an animal or plant (or part of one) to another animal, plant, or inanimate object.
Phototaxis the bodily movement of a motile organism in response to light, either toward the source of light (positive phototaxis) or away from it (negative phototaxis)
Chemotaxis movement of a motile cell or organism, or part of one, in a direction corresponding to a gradient of increasing or decreasing concentration of a particular substance
Habituation innate response to stimulus is decreasing
Imprinting (of a young animal) come to recognize another animal, person, or thing as a parent or other object of habitual trust.

Carrying Capacity the number of people, other living organism, or crops that region can support without environmental degradation.
Community a group of interdependent organisms of different species growing or living together in a specified habitat
Conservation prevention of wasteful use of a resource
Deforestation the action of cleaning a wide area of trees
Ecology the branch of biology that deals with the relations of organism to one another and their physical surroundings
Ecosystem a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment
Eutrophication excessive richness in a lake or other body of water, frequently due to runoff from the land, which causes a dense growth of plant life and death of animal life from lack of oxygen
Global Warming a gradual increase in the overall temperature of earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, chlorofluorocarbons, and other pollutants
Habitat the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism
Innate Behavior behavior that's genetically hardwired in an organism and can be performed in response to a cue without prior experience
Mutualism symbiosis that is beneficial to both organisms involved
Parasitism a nonmutual relationship between two organisms in which one benefits at the expense of the other
Symbiosis interaction between two different organisms living in close physical association, typically to the advantage of both
