| Energy | The ability to do work or cause change |
| Work | When a force is used to move an object over a distance or cause change |
| Force | A push or a pull |
| Chemical energy | Energy that is stored in the particles of matter ( H2O, food, batteries, plants, etc. ) |
| Mechanical energy | Energy of motion or moving parts (bicycle, wind turbine, ocean waves, wind, arms and legs) |
| Radiant Energy | Energy that travels on invisible waves (sunlight (solar energy), heat from fire, x-rays, microwave ) etc. |
| Thermal energy | The energy that all matter has because its particles (atoms, molecules ) are in motion |
| Electrical energy | The energy that comes from moving electrons (can be static or current) |
| Potential energy | Energy that is stored and ready to be used |
| Kinetic energy | Energy that is working or in motion |
| Law of conservation of energy | Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be changed (transformed, converted) to a different form or transferred from one object or another |
| Conserve | To save, in respect to energy, it means that energy is never created or destroyed, but always stays the same amount, even when it is transferred or transformed. |
| Transfer | To move something from one place or one object to another- the same type of energy can passed along from one object to another |
| Transform or Convert | Other words that mean the same thing as the word change. |
