| radiant energy | energy that travels on invisible waves (sunlight (solar energy), heat from fire, x-rays, etc.) |
| thermal energy | the energy that all matter has its particles (atoms, molecules) are in motion |
| electrical energy | the energy that comes from moving electrons (can be static or current) |
| potential energy | energy that is stored and ready to be used |
| kinetic energy | energy that is working or in motion |
| law of conservation of energy | energy cannot be created or destroyed, but it can be changed (transformed, converted) to a different form or transferred from one object to another |
| conserve | to save. in respect to energy, it means that energy is never created or destroyed, but it always stays in the same amount, even when it is transferred or transformed |
