Terms and definitions
| Term | Definition |

| Tempo | The speed at which a passage of music is or should be played. |
| Rhythm | A strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound. |
| Melody | A sequence of single notes that is musically satisfying. |
| Harmony | The combination of simultaneously sounded musical notes to produce chords and chord progressions having a pleasing effect. |
| Timbre | The character or quality of a musical sound or voice as distinct from its pitch and intensity. |
| Form | The structure of a musical composition. |
| Dynamics | The branch of mechanics concerned with the motion of bodies under the action of forces. |
| Pitch | The quality of a sound governed by the rate of vibrations producing it; the degree of highness or lowness of a tone. |
| Verses | Writing arranged with a metrical rhythm, typically having a rhyme. |
| Refrain | The line or lines that are repeated in music or in poetry |
| Bridge sections | A bridge is a section of a song that's intended to provide contrast to the rest of the composition. |
