What are examples of Human-Environment in Southwest Asia? People have done many things to the environment in order to find fresh water and oil.
What is an oasis? An oasis is a place where water from an underground aquifer has reached the surface; it supports vegetation and wildlife.
Why are the coast lands in Southwest Asia heavily populated? Coast lands are close to water, which makes the climate milder and allows access to trade by sea.
What is drip irrigation? It is the practice of using small pipes that slowly drip water just above the ground to conserve water to use for crops.
Why is the Dead Sea named like this? The Dead Sea was given its name because it is so salty that hardly anything can live in it.
What mountain range streches along the coast of Iran? Zagros Mountains
Why is control of the Suez-Canal so important? This is the only waterway that accesses the Mediterranean Sea on the East side of Africa.
