TermDefinition
Procedure A step-by-step method to carry out an investigation
Data To display numerical information in the form of a graph or chart.
Hand lens A tool used to bring an object closer into view.
Light Microscope A tool that makes microscopic objects bigger by multiplying the power of the eyepiece.
Dropper A tool that is a tube with a rubber bulb on one end that you squeeze to suck up liquid and then release it to let the liquid out.
Measure Make observations involving numbers and units that are exact.
Temperature How hot or cold something is.
Time How long events take.
Electron microscope A tool that can magnify an object up to one million times by shooting a beam of electrons at the object.
Pipette A tool like that is like a dropper, but it’s more exact and is used to add or remove small amounts of liquid.
Length The measure of distance between two points.
Three Beam Scale A tool that measures mass more exactly than the pan balance.
Spring scale A tool that is used to measure a force such as weight.
Mass The measure of how much matter is in an object.
Tape measure, yard stick, meter stick, ruler Tools used to measure length (4).
Balance A tool used to measure mass in grams by comparing with a known mass.
Volume A measurement that is the amount of space a solid, liquid, or gas takes up.
Graduated cylinder A tool that is tall with lines of measure that is used to measure volume.
Grams A metric unit of mass.
Cubic centimeter A metric unit of volume.
Thermometer An instrument used to measure how hot or cold something is.
Force A push or pull that changes the motion or direction of an object.
