Essential Science

TermDefinition
An element is a substance that cannot be split into simpler substances by chemical means
A compound is a substance made of 2 or more different elements chemically combined
A mixture contains of two or more different substances mingled together but not chemically combined
An atom is the smallest part of an element that still has the properties of that element
