Science safety rules ( quiz 8/18/22)

RULES
1. Always follow written and verbal instructions and make sure you ASK QUESTIONS if you don't understand instructions
1. Students should not touch equipment, chemicals, or other materials until instructed to do so
3. NO food or beverages allowed in the lab
5. Always be sure to READ INSTRUCTIONS thoroughly before doing an experiment ( or entering lab)
6. NO horseplay, practical jokes, and pranks in lab
7. Keep aisles clear
7. Supplies and materials should be left in the classroom (back of room)
8. KNOW where the first aid kit, eyewash station, fire extinguisher, and fire blanket is
9. NOTIFY THE INSTRUCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you see any UNSAFE CONDITIONS in the lab
11. while using chemicals keep hands away from face, eyes, and mouth and don't rub your hands on any part of your body
15. Using knives and sharp instruments carry with tips and points down
15. ALWAYS cut away from your body
15. NEVER TRY TO CATCH A SHARP INSTRUMENT (let it fall then pick up) and always grasp sharp instruments by the handles
18. When chemicals, heat, and glassware are used students MUST wear goggles in lab
20. In lab long hair, dangling jewelry, and loose/baggy clothing are dangerous
20. Lon hair MUST be TIED BACK
20. dangling jewelry and loose/baggy clothes MUST be secured
21. REPORT any accidents/ injuries to the teacher IMMEDIATELY
22. IF chemicals splash in your eye(s) or skin, IMMEDIATELY flush with running water from eyewash station or safety shower for 20 minutes
24. DON'T touch, taste, smell any chemicals unless told to do so
25. Check label TWICE (2) on chemical bottle before using it
26. NEVER RETURN chemicals to their ORIGINAL containers
31. NEVER REMOVE chemicals or other materials from lab
34. NEVER HANDLE/touch broken glass with hands
34. USE brash + dustpan to clean up broken glass
34. PLACE broken glass or waste glassware in specif GLASS DISPOSAL CONTAINER
35. HANDS must be completely DRY before touching electrical switch,plug,outlet
(remove electrical plug by the socket NOT the plug)
38. ASK teacher for HELP if you don't understand how to use the EQUIPMENT
40. Be CAUTIOUS when using a gas burner
40. hair, clothing, hands keep in a SAFE distance from FLAME at ALL times
40. DON'T put anything (substance) into flame unless told to do so
40. NEVER reach over open FLAME(S)
40. NEVER start gas or alcohol burners unless told to do so
41. NEVER LEAVE a lit burner UNATTENDED
43. Headed metals and glass STAY HOT for a long time; set aside to cool; ALWAYS USE tongs or heat protective gloves if necessary
44. NEVER LOOK into a heated container
