7th grade: Scientific Processes, Motion, Acceleration, Gravity, and Forces

QuestionAnswer
Mass is a measurement of what? The amount of space an object occupies.
Volume is the measurement of what? The amount of matter in an object.
What must a measurement include? A number and an unit.
What does mass equal? Matter.
What do you do before you write your hypothesis? Research the topic.
What is the best graph to show comparison? Bar graph.
How is a hypothesis formatted? If, then, because.
What is a independent variable? What is being changed on purpose.
What is a dependent variable? What is being measured.
What is a controlled variable? What is kept the same.
What is a qualitative observation? Observation using your senses.
What is a quantitative observation? Observation that is measurable.
What is position? A place or an object is that place or object.
What is a reference point? A location to wgere you compare other locations.
What is motion? The change of positions over time.
What is velocity? The measurement of both speeds and directions.
What is a vector? The measurement that includes size and direction.
What is acceleration? The measure of the change in velocity of a moving object.
What is gravity? The force that objects exert on each other because of their masses.
What is weight? The force of gravity on an object.
What is potential energy? The amount of stored energy.
What is kinetic energy? The energy of motion.
What is Newton's first law? An object in motion will stay in motion unless acted upon by another force. A force is not always needed to keep something moving.
What is friction? A force that exists at the boundry between any two pieces of matter that are in contactwith each other.
What is Newton's second law? The change in motion that results from unbalanced forces. F=ma
What is inertia? The tendency of an object to resist change in its motion.
What is Newton's third law? Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
