How Do Animals Grow and ReprodDefinitions
chromosome Threadlike strand inside the nucleus that is made up of a chemical called DNA
mitosis The process of cell division, where duplicated chromosomes in the cell's nucleus separate, and the cell pinches into two cells
asexual reproduction One-celled organisms reproducing by simple cell division without the joining of male and female cells
sexual reproduction Cells from two parents unite to form one cell, a zygote which contains chromosomes from both parents
meiosis The process that reduces the number of chromosomes in reproductive cellls
