QuestionAnswer
What is a gene pool? "A gene pool consists of all genes, including all the different alleles, that are present in a population."
How would you calculate relative frequency? You can calculate relative frequency by percentages of a population.
What is evolution in terms of genetics? "In genetic terms, evolution is any change in the relative frequency of alleles in a population."
What are the possible results of a mutation? "Any change in a sequence of DNA" So as long as the sequence of the DNA has changed, any result is possible.
Why is gene shuffling discussed in text concerned with variation? Because "Most heritable differences are due to gene shuffling that occurs during the production of gametes" which like it says makes it heritable but also causes variation because the parents of a kid won't have what he has due to gene shuffling.
What is a single gene trait? A single gene trait determines how something looks on someones face or anything else, an example of a single gene trait would be a widow's peak.
How is a polygenetic trait different than a single gene trait? Polygenic traits are different than single gene traits because polygenic traits are controlled by two or more genes and are, therefore, called polygenic traits.
