When a force acts on a subject, what can it do? The object can change shape, move and change speed.
What is a contact force? A contact force is a force between two objects which are physically touching.
What is a non- contact force? A non-contact force is a force which occurs when objects are physically separated.
What is a balanced force? A balanced force when 2 or more forces are acting in opposite directions that are the same size.
What is friction (contact force)? Friction is a force that occurs when 2 moving objects are in contact.
What is gravity (non-contact force)? Gravity is the “pull” of the Earth on objects.
What is pressure caused by? Pressure is caused by particles a force to a surface.
What is speed? Speed is the amount of distance travelled in a given amount of time.
What are the names of the energy stores? The names of the energy stores are kinetic, internal, elastic potential, gravitational potential, electrical, magnetic, chemical and nuclear.
What are the names of energy transfers? The names of the energy transfers are mechanical work, electrical work, radiation and heating.
What piece of equipment do we use to measure a force? We would use a piece of equipment called a Newton Meter.
What is the law of conservation of energy. The law is that energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transferred into other energy stores.
What is the unit for force? The unit for force is Newtons, N.
What is the unit for distance? The unit for distance is meters, m.
What is the unit for energy? The unit for energy is Joules (J).
