| extensibility | the ability to be stretched |
| extension | increasing the angle betwee two bone, or straightening a body part |
| fascia | a touh, sheetlike membrane that covers and protects the tissue |
| flexion | decreasing the angle between two bone, or straightening a body part |
| insertion | the end that moves when the muscle contracts |
| involuntary | meaning they function with out conscious thought or control |
| muscle tone | is sometime described as a state of readiness to act |
| muscular system | muscle are bundles of muscle fibers held together by connective tissue |

| rotation | turning a body part around its own axis |
| skeletal muscle | is attached to bones and causes body movement |
| tendons | strong,tough connective-tissue cords |
| visceral(smooth) muscle | is found in the internal organs of such as those of the digestive and respiratory system and the blood vessels and eyes |
