Planets and Stars
| Term | Definition |

| Moon | natural satellite of a planet |
| Orbit | path an object takes when revolving around another object |
| Planet | large, ball-shaped satellite of a star |
| Star | enormous ball of glowing gas that gives off heat and light |
| Solar system | a star and all the satellites that orbit it |
| Sun | name for the central star in our solar system |
| Inner planets | four planets closest to the sun; they are smaller and rocky in comparison |
| Outer planets | four planets farthest from the sun; also known as the gas giants |
| Red star | a star with colder temperature |
| Blue star | star with extremely hot temperature |
| yellow star | a star with average temperature |
| constellation | group of stars that makes a pattern shape, like an animal, object, or person; can be used for navigation |
| Dwarf planets | it has not cleared the neighborhood around its orbit; smaller than a planet |
| comet | mixture of ice and rock |
