Ray straight path that light travels in
Transparent lets all light pass through
Translucent lets some light through
Opaque lets no light pass through
Refraction to bend
Prism transparent triangle shaped object that separates white light into all the colors of a rainbow (refracts -- or bends-- light)
Shadow a place where light does not strike or is blocked
Lenses curved transparent objects that refract (bend) light waves
Convex Lens curved lens that makes objects appear bigger (used in telescopes and magnifying glasses)
Concave Lens curved lens that makes objects appear smaller and farther away (used in car side mirrors)
White light All the colors of the rainbow
Prism piece of glass or other transparent material shaped like a triangle; a prism breaks white light into all the colors of the rainbow
