Key Words

TermDefinition
Found Sound A sound that is not made by a conventional instrument.
Glass Harmonica A musical instrument made up of a series of glass bowls, placed one inside the other.
Glass Harp A musical instrument made up of upright wine glasses.
Theme tune Music played during the opening and closing credits of a film, or TV show and can sometimes be heard throughout the production.
Soundtrack A collection of music that appears on a film or TV show.
Film Score The music that is composed specifically for the film.
Diegetic Music Music within a film that the characters can hear.
Illustrative Music Music that tries to illustrate something - a scene, character, mood or image.
Leitmotif A recurring theme or melody in a piece of music, which is specifically associated with a person or situation.
Instrumentation Instruments that are playing an what they are playing.
Jingle A short, catchy, piece of music that usually contains a slogan.
Slogan A short phrase that is easily remembered and is used to advertise something.
