Revolution Is the movement of Earth is why we have seasons
Orbit Path an object follows as it revolves around another object
Highlands The mountains on the moons surface
Marias Flat areas on the moons surface
Craters Large, round impressions on the moon’s surface caused by impacts
Sun Is the ONLY star in our solar system ( Main Element that makes up the sun is hydrogen)/
Polaris The North Star
Asteroid belt Is found between Mars & Jupiter
Asteroid Are rocky objects revolving around the sun and are too small to be considered planets.
Meteorite A piece of meteoroid that lands on Earth AFTER passing through the atmosphere.
Meteoroid Small rock in space
Winter The hemisphere is tilted away from the Sun & receives LESS direct rays, has shorter days & a cooler season
Equinox Means equal night
Equinox #2: Occurs when the sun is directly over the Equator ( when neither Hemisphere is tilted toward OR away from the sun). When all of earth has 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night.
Solstice The day is shorter than the nights, night is shorter than the day. Occurs 2 days a year when the sun is directly over the equator.
Hydrogen MAIN ELEMENT that makes up the Sun is Hydrogen) ( chemical makeup of a star is Hydrogen & helium
The coolest stars are Red
Characteristics Used to classify stars are temperature, color, and brightness
