Instinct A natural born pattern of behavior in a species such as birds building nests or tarantulas throwing hair to escape predators.
Inherited Trait Characteristic that is passed from parents to offspring during reproduction.
Offspring New organisms that come from parents that have reproduced.
Learned Behavior Animal trait that develops from being taught or observed rather than passed down by heredity.
Trait Specific characteristic of an organism.
Heredity Passing traits from parents to offspring during reproduction.
Camouflage To increase their chances of survival, some organisms blend in with their surrounding environment.
Genetics The study of heredity and how inherited traits are passed down from parents to offspring.
Reproduction The act of making new offspring.
Organism Living thing.
