Vocabulary for nonfiction text features
| Question | Answer |

| caption | An explanation or description for a picture. |
| diagram | A drawing or picture that shows how something works or shows the different parts of something. |
| glossary: | A list of technical or special words and their definitions in a book, usually found at the end of a book. |
| heading | A word or phrase that is placed at the top of a piece of writing and gives it a title. (Usually will give you an idea of the topic being discussed.) |
| index: | An alphabetical list of specific information that can be found and the page number to find it. It is usually found at the end of the book. |
| non-fiction: | writing that describes facts and real events; not fiction |
| photograph: | A picture made by a camera. |
| subheading: | A title for a subdivision of a text. |
| Table of contents: | A list of all the big topics or chapters in a book in the order they'll be presented. |
| graph: | A drawing or diagram that visually shows how two or more pieces of information are related. |
| hyperlink | A clickable word or phrase in a document or webpage that directs the user to another location. |
| Cutaway | A visual representation, like a diagram or illustration, where part of an object is cut away to reveal its internal structure, allowing the reader to see the inside components of something. |
