Science

TermDefinition
proton Positively-charged particle in the nucleus of an atom.
scientific theory A well-tested explanation for a wide range of observations or experimental results.
neutron Electrically-neutral particle that has the same mass as a proton and is found in an atom’s nucleus.
scientific law A statement that describes what scientists expect to happen every time under a particular set of conditions.
nucleus Small region of space at the center of the atom; contains protons and neutrons.
metric system A system of measurement based on the number 10.
electron cloud Region surrounding the nucleus of an atom, where electrons are most likely to be found.
