| Flower | plant part for reproduction |
| Stem | plant part that carries water and nutrients to the leaves, also provides support |
| Roots | plant part that attaches to the ground for support and to absorb water and nutrients |
| Leaves | a flat, blade-like part on the plant that grows off the stem; where photosynthesis and transpiration take place |
| Dormant | an inactive or sleepy state when the plant does not grow, often losing leaves to conserve energy |
| Egg | female sex cell |
| Petal | colorful parts of the flower which attract pollinators |
| Pistil | the female organs of the flower containing the stigma, style, and ovary |
| Stamen | the male reproductive organ of the flower, contains the pollen |
| Ovary | female reproductive organ of the flower |
| Pollen | a fine powdery substance, usually yellow, from the male part of the flower |

| Spore | a reproductive element from non-flowering plants such as ferns, moss, and fungi (mushrooms and mold) |
| Pollination | When a pollinator (bee, butterfly, mosquito) moves pollen from plant to plant. The pollen is removed from the stamen and sticks to the pistil. |
| Fertilization | The pollen travels down the pistil to the ovary. When the pollen and egg join, the egg develops into a fertilized seed |
| Seed Dispersal | the seed is carried away from the parent plant by the wind, water/rain, or animals that ate the fruit or carried it on their fur |
