Vocab for Rocks
| Term | Definition |

| Lithification | the process of small particles of rock hardening into a firm layer as water is squeezed out of it. |
| Weathering | the erosion of rock through different types of weather. |
| Sedimentary | rock that is made from the stratification of layers of tiny rock and organic particles |
| Igneous | Rock created from the magma in the mantle |
| Extrusive | Rock that is cooled from magma rapidly, over the course of hours or days. |
| Intrusive | Rock that is cooled from magma slowly, taking up to thousands or millions of years. |
| Metamorphic | A type of rock formed from different rocks re-melting and transforming into new rock. |
| Stratification | The building of layers of rock on top of each other |
