Climate The long term average weather conditions that occur in particular region .
Rain shadow Is different amounts precipitation on either side of a mountain that ifluences the types of vegetation that grow
Specific heat The amount of joules of thermal energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 kg of a material by 1* C.
micro climate A localized climate that is different from the climate of the larger area surrounding it.
ice age Cold periods lasting millions of years when glaciers cover much of the earth.
Inter glacials The warm periods that occur during ice ages .
Monsoon The wind circulation patters that changes directions in the seasons .
El Nino/Southern oscillation A complete ENSO cycle occurs every 3-8 years.
drought A period of below average percipitation
global warming Global warming is the long-term heating of Earth's climate system observed since the pre-industrial period (between 1850 and 1900) due to human activities
Greenhouse gasses They help keep tempeature for living things to survive
Deforestation The large clearing and burning of forests
Global climate model A set of complex equations used to predict future climates.
