decomposer an organism that breaks down the remains of dead organisms
food chain the path of food energy in an ecosystem as one living thing eats another
food web two or more food chains that overlap
herbivore an animal that eats only plants
microorganism a tiny living thing that can only be seen with a microscope
omnivore an animal that eats both plants and animals
photosynthesis the process plants use to make food
predator an animal that hunts other animals for food
prey an animal that is hunted for food by a predator
recycling the process of breaking down materials into a different form that is used again
scavenger an animal that feeds on the remains of DEAD animals
