| antigen | a foreign substance that causes the body to make antibodies. |
| artery | a major blood vessel that moves blood from the heart out to the body tissues. |
| capillary bed | a network of very small, thin-walled blood vessels (capillaries) located in body tissues. |
| cardiovascular | related to the heart and blood vessels. |
| erythrocyte | a red blood cell that transports oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from body tissues. |
| learning style | an individual’s preferred way of gaining or processing new information. |
| leukocyte | a white blood cell that is involved in fighting infection. |
| lymphatic | related to or containing the watery fluid (lymph) collected from body tissues. |
| pulmonary loop | the flow of blood from the heart to the lungs and back to pick up oxygen and drop off carbon dioxide. |
| respiratory | related to the act of or organs involved in breathing. |
| systemic loop | the flow of blood from the heart to the body systems and back to drop off nutrients and pick up waste. |
| vein | a main blood vessel that moves blood from body tissues toward the heart. |
