Seasons

QuestionAnswer
What is the definition of rotation? Turning or spinning on an axis.
What is the definition of revolution? The action of one object moving completely around another in an orbital path.
What is the definition of orbit? The path an object takes as it revolves around another object.
What causes seasons? The Earth's tilt and revolution around the Sun.
How many days does it take for the Earth to revolve around the Sun once? 365 days (1 year).
Every 24 hours, what does Earth accomplish? One full rotation on its axis.
What is the definition of axis? An imaginary line that runs through both poles of Earth.
How many times in one year does a solstice appear? Solstices only occur two times during the year.
What is an equinox? The time when both day and night are equal (12 hours each).
What is a solstice? An event that marks the longest or shortest day of the year.
