Physiology

TermDefinition
Extrinsic eye muscles skeletal muscles that attach to the outside of the eyeball and to the bones of the orbit.
Intrinsic eye muscles are smooth,or involuntary , muscles located within the eye.
Retina is the incomplete innermost coat of the eyeball
Refraction is the deflection, or bending of light rays
Prolactin produced by acidophils in the pars anterior , also called lactogenic hormone
TSH Thyroid Stimulating Hormone or thyrotropin, promotes and maintains the growth and development of its target gland-The Thyroid
Adrenocorticotropic Hormone (ACTH) promotes and maintains normal growth and development of the cortex of the adrenal gland.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) stimulates structures within the ovaries , primary follicles , to grow toward maturity.
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) stimulates the formation and activity of the corpus luteum of the ovary
Neurohypophysis serves as a storage and release sitefor two hormones (ADH) andtidiuretic Hormone and Oxytoxin (OT)
