A&P Central Nervous System

TermDefinition
Amygdaloid nucleus basal nucleus (region of gray matter of the deep cerebrum) at the tip of the caudate nucleus; alternate name of the amygdala.
Anterior corticospinal tract coordinates individual or small groups of muscles (hands, fingers, feet, toes) of the same side.
Anterior spinothalamic tract responds to crude touch and pressure .
Arbor vitae internal white matter of the cerebellum.
Biological clock internal timing mechanism that governs hunger, sleeping, reproduction, and behavior.
Brainstem part of brain containing the midbrain, pons, and medulla oblongata.
Cauda equina lower end of spinal cord with its attached spinal nerve roots.
Caudate nucleus one of the basal nuclei, gray matter areas in the inner region of the cerebrum of the brain.
Central sulcus groove between frontal and parietal lobes of the cerebrum.
Cerebellum second largest part of the human brain; plays an essential role in the production of normal movements.
